Ellora caves
Ellora Caves.
Tugged in the Western ghats of basalt cliffs are these numerous caves beautifully carved showcasing the religious harmony which existed in the ancient India. The caves are of Buddhism,Hinduism and Jainism sects made by the Rulers between 600 to 1000 CE.My interest particularly rested in the Kailash temple made in the shape of a Chariot. It is a Shiva temple with carving of most Hindu Gods/Goddesses giving great importance to Shaktism (worshiping of Feminine energy). My Prana got locked on the Huge Lakshmi form which is present right at the entrance.Even till today I can feel the reverberance of Ma,Devi,Maharagini.

At the Entrance of Kailash temple - Carving of Goddess Lakshmi |
Being a vastu-astro consultant life revolves around solving
peoples problems and giving them remedies. Someone at a vastu conference asked
if we can have a decorated wall ,ie just a few steps after we enter inside the
house ,in front of the main entrance, does it come under any Dosha? Since we
work only based on sashtra and temple study ,my answer was
immediate "Yes we can have".
This Lakshmi carving done on the mountain is between 15-20 feet tall, magnificent, exotic and mesmerizing. Being a Devi upasak I see this figure in my meditation very often.I felt like chanting a Devi strotra while standing in front of Her. Though it has not been energized with any puruscharan, abhishekam, incense stick, fire offering etc since 100s of years the energy of this particular wall carving is very enchanting, may be due to its high mineral presence .All volcanic eruptions have inflated energy due to its high content of mineral deposits. Being an high energy area this place is apt for meditation or Pujas.Temples are a great medium to study vedic way of doing vastu as well as astrology.
My Obeisance to the Ruler who understood the essence of having Devi Ma on the entrance .
Only a Devi upasak can understand the energy this simple carving has.As per our vedic texts we must have a Form of Goddess Lakshmi on the entrance. Its energy full of love, wealth, fame, strength, power, intelligence, siddhi and Ishtitva(becoming one with your Lord).
My heart sank to see this demolished figure. How I yearned to go 1400 years back to see how She looked like and what made this particular stone form so powerful.
I also wondered what would have happened to those barbarians who burned and demolished our temples.Would they be punished by Devi for this cruelty post their Death.!
This is a must visit for every Devi Upasak in order to feel the Living Energy .
Oh Devi ! Accept my Invocation.

- Need a complete day to tour Ellora caves. A local bus takes you to Jain caves as they are a bit far from the Hindu caves. Kailash temple- Caves no 16 is the most attractive one.
- Carry an Umbrella without fail as these caves are stretched for 2 kms lying adjacent to each other. After every caves we need to walk in scotching sun to reach the other cave
- Nearest city -Aurangabad 30kms. We stayed at IBIS..were even upgraded to a suit room :).food is good here.
- We didn't like the resorts near the Caves.
- Carry some ORS pack as you might get dehydrated.
- Wear comfortable shoes with loose fitting pyjamas as its very hot during the day even in winters
- Sunglasses are a must.
- Ajanta Caves are not in the same places as Ellora caves. Keep a day separate for Ajanta as its 3 hours journey by car from Ellora.
- Start early as there is lots to see as number of caves are too many. timing 9am-5:30pm
- Buy some nice crystal stuff from the local vendors outside the caves near parking area, they are really cheap.
- Have a heavy breakfast as we don't get anything inside and do carry munchies as you might want to skip Lunch in order to cover all the Ellora caves on the same day.
Excellent. The writing took me back when I visited long time back. Now feel like visiting again.
